About

Côte refers to a hillside, seashore, border, or one of those rare sloped regions that are home to the world's most interesting vineyards. Their wine grapes originate from distinct Californian sites with unique weather patterns, terrain, and soils that lend themselves to excellent wine. Their grape growing practices resemble those more commonly found in Burgundy: picking early to ensure lively acidity and lower alcohol, as well as minimizing sulfur and other additions This rosé was made from whole cluster pressed Zinfandel which was grown in sandy, decomposed granite soils formed by an alluvial fan in Contra Costa County. The soils are so sandy that when passing through the vineyard, it feels as though you’re walking on a beach. These own-rooted vines remain undisturbed by phylloxera given their purely sandy soils. With small yields, the majority of these ancient vines continue to produce despite being originally planted in the 1880’s. The vineyard has been owned and farmed by the Del Barba Family for almost a century.
