Edoardo Miroglio winery is an impressive 220 hectares of vineyards in the center of Bulgaria in the village of Elenovo in the Thracian Valley. This region, once known as Thrace, is where the origins of winemaking date back to the cult of Dionysus. In 2002, Miroglio decided to establish one of the most modern wineries in Bulgaria is this region, and the winery conducted its first production in October of 2005. With the idea of combining Italian know-how in the development of vineyards and oenology with the excellent Piedmontese tradition, the overall process for the production of wines is controlled by a group of Italian and Bulgarian oenologists led by the world's famous oenologist Marco Monchiero. Mavrud is an old red grape variety cultivated in Bulgaria since ancient times. The birthplace of Mavrud is the area around today’s city of Plovdiv in the Western Thrace wine region.Mavrud wines develop excellently in contact with oak and acquire powerful and complex aromas. Mavrud is probably the most highly valued local grape variety- Bulgarians take great pride in Mavrud and actively look for wines from this variety on the market. It's also becoming a significant grape that is now gaining attention all over the world.
